Information & Information-Technology (I & IT) QA Assistant/ Ontario Ministry of Education
Toronto, June 2020 – Sept 2020

During my internship with the Ontario Ministry of Education, I worked with the PMO office in Community Services Cluster (DDSB Branch) as an I&IT QA assistant. It was a great experience working in a classic Canadian work culture with a great team. I will always be grateful to my manager Marc Trottier for giving me this opportunity and being a great mentor.During this time, while we were all working from home, I realized that everyone in our team had a busy schedule and when co-op students had process-related questions, communication was not as fast as would have been in a face-to-face office environment. To reduce this bottleneck, I took an initiative to make video tutorials for 6 operations which are now being used in the Ministry for training purposes. With the help of these tutorials, new co-op students can easily replay these videos for frequent process-related questions.I also played an important role in executing a change project within the cluster which changed the way resources in 2 teams reported their time against the allocated tasks. This was a project in which we delivered within a short deadline while adapting to changing requirements and ultimately leading to a successful Go-live which allowed 100+ resources to report their time through Planview Enterprise (Cloud Platform). The result was that the resource managers could easily monitor the timesheets submitted by their resources working on different projectsSummary:

  • Prepared weekly Dashboards, Data quality reports, Project Status reports, Executive Summary reports using Planview Enterprise (Administrative level) and Microsoft Excel for senior managers

  • Coordinated project governance meetings, prepared presentations and minutes for 20+ cross-disciplinary stakeholders

  • Supported resources with any technical issues related to the Planview Enterprise

  • Coordinated with project teams to ensure project deliverables are consistent with the appropriate Quality Assurance standards

  • Developed schedules and allocated resources for a major project which allowed more than 100 resources to report time on Planview Enterprise (cloud-based platform)

  • Monitored timely submission and approval of timesheets for 200+ resources

  • Developed video tutorials for standard operations which are now being used for training purposes

President Student Council/ Lambton College
Jan 2020 - Oct 2020

Being elected as a president for the student council was an honor and a great opportunity to serve and learn. During this time I led a wonderful team of more than 20 professionals from diverse backgrounds.
In a very short period of time, we delivered more than 16 projects which helped me to practice and learn more about leadership, project management, and digital marketing skills. When nature served us the curve with COVID, we quickly adapted to online platforms.
This was the time I was managing my Co-op with the ministry, part-time job, LCIT Yoga club, and other volunteer roles all at the same time. However, my skills in time management and prioritization have never let me down despite the workload.I am always quick to applying what I learn. Based on what I was experiencing in the Ministry of education I drafted an Initiative Governance Model which would increase the productivity and organizational processes of future student councils. This model contained minutes of templates and documents to help implementation of the new processes.Summary:

  • Led a wonderful team of 20 professionals from diverse backgrounds and delivered more than 16 projects which helped me improve my leadership, project management, and digital marketing skills

  • Amplified communication between students and college management by developing many social media channels. This improved student engagement and quick turn around time for issue resolution.

  • Developed an Initiative Governance Model to increase the productivity and organizational processes of future student councils. This model contained minutes of templates and documents to help the implementation of the new processes.

  • Oversaw 4 Student Clubs to ensure they functioned productively

  • Helped transition of Student Council operations to an online platform during COVID crisis
